Global R&amp;D spending expanded by 4.7% in real terms in 2024, with <strong>China overtaking the United States in total R&amp;D investment for the first time<\/strong>. Corporate R&amp;D expenditure among the world&#8217;s leading firms hit a record $1.5 trillion, fueled primarily by software- and AI-intensive companies.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Venture capital funding rebounded sharply\u2014up 28% to $510 billion\u2014even as deal count declined for the fourth consecutive year.
